Compensation: $15/hour
Hours: 8 hours per week

Employment End Date: December 1, 2026​​

Position Summary

The Democratic Engagement Interns will play a key role in strengthening student democratic participation at Michigan State University by providing voter education. These positions are non-partisan and operate as part of a collaborative campus and community committee. Interns will help increase the number of student voting pledges and plans, provide accessible information on candidates and ballots, and support initiatives to boost student participation in local, state, and national elections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support student voting education events.

  • Staff tables at campus events to provide voter registration information.  

  • Work with Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) to facilitate voter education and registration events.  

  • Support social media campaigns to promote voter engagement.  

  • Assist with programming and events at the Early Voting Center. 

  • Deliver classroom and program presentations on voter education and information.

Training and Development

  • Attend a training session in early September to prepare for the fall semester activities.  

  • Receive ongoing support and guidance from the MSUvote team and co-directors.  

  • Attend bi-weekly meetings with project overseer(s).

​

Qualifications

  • Must be a current student at Michigan State University.  

  • Passionate about civic engagement and willing to dedicate time to promoting democratic participation among peers.  

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  

  • Committed to non-partisan voter engagement work.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
